The Bushcare Network was formed in 1991 to connect all of the groups so they could work together.

Some of the people at the first meeting who then worked actively to lobby Council to employ a bushcare officer included:
Thelma Murphy, Hugh Paterson, Mike Purtell, Norm & Laurel Harris, Lyndal Sullivan, Peter Geelan Small …

They covered all of the groups in the beginning and slowly over time has been a few key people involved. At one stage it was divided into upper and lower mountains as the network got bigger. They have met quarterly for the past 10 years and have worked on many projects over the years and delivered many conferences.
