On Wednesday the 10 August The Varuna Writers House Seasonal Weeding Group started with a fantastic group of enthusiastic volunteers and great weather. The group was welcomed with such generosity, feeling and knowledge on Country by Gully Traditional Owner David King, who is very connected to the Caring for Country in the Gully and Gedumba Catchment.

David talked to us about the Cultural Significance of The Gully, the connection with Varuna about connecting to Country and Community and how valuable the work of this new Bushcare group will be in The Gedumba Catchment

This new group will be meeting 4 times a year and tackling weeds using a seasonal approach – such as when things are in flower or seeding

Our next meeting is Nov  9, from 9:30 am everyone is welcome and Varuna served up a pretty sweet morning tea ..with chairs … They are very welcoming and greatly appreciate this work
