Wildlife Research Documentary

Saturday 13 June, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

The Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute would also like to invite you to the

WILDLIFE RESEARCH DOCUMENTARY: EXCLUSIVE SCREENING IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS

Daniel Hunter’s short film “Battle in the Bush” explores some of Daniel’s research findings about the role predators play in the changing face of Australian conservation.  The research findings reveal that dingoes play a crucial role in the structure and function of NSW forest ecosystems. His film explores the conservation ramifications of removing this top order predator.  The Institute is supporting Daniel’s PhD on dingo ecology and is delighted to host this special film screening.  The ecological and social issues around the role of higher predators in natural systems is complex.  Understanding these complexities is central to the health of the vast ecosystems of the Greater Glue Mountains World Heritage Area.   We will also be screening a film ‘Where Do Eagles Dare?’ by young West-Australian ornithologist Simon Cherriman, as he embarks, for first time ever, to satellite track our largest predatory bird, the Wedge-tail Eagle in the remote wilderness. This film documents this unique research and is part of a conservation project being undertaken by the WA Department of Parks & Wildlife and the Martu People.   These films will be screened at the Fairmont Resort on June 13 from 5 pm.       For programme details and ticket purchases please go to:
