Two longstanding members of Bushcare were recognised for their community work at the 2013 Seniors Week Awards Celebration on 18 March.

John King was nominated for his involvement at the Katoomba Men’s Shed, Blue Mountains Conservation Society and his Bushcare his work with the Fairy Dell Group at Springwood.

Gil Appleton volunteers at the Everglades Landcare site and is the co-ordinator at the Lone Pine Bushcare Group. She also has been involved for many years at Varuna and was on the Penrith Performing Arts Board. She visits refugees at Villawood with a friend and helps out with the Gecko.

I would like to congratulate them both for their well-deserved awards and their work with the Bushcare program.
